Well, we made our goal of 10 days of groceries for $100...I didn't get to the store until January 29th. So really we made it eleven days.
We did this in two ways...
1. Couponing. Which I think everyone should do.
2. NEW RECIPES...which are my favorite.
We used a couple of recipes from the Raising Olives website http://raisingolives.com/

*Lentil Chili (we subbed in ground chicken instead of beef) the kids LOVED it...which surprised me
a little. Thank you, Raising Olives!
We also used some of our old favorites...one of which is:
Navy Bean Soup
Which seemed like a ridiculous name for white colored beans until I found out they were a Naval staple for a long time. It makes WAY more sense now.
1 or 2 bags of navy beans
3 or 4 carrots chopped
1 onion chopped
2 celery stalks chopped (optional)
salt and pepper
simmer for 3 to 4 hours
I will admit the kids ate cake for breakfast on the 29th. I
didn't realize we were out of oatmeal and cereal until that morning. Oops. They thought this was possibly the best breakfast in the history of the
world. I actually heard "Mom, you're the BEST!"
It was like a cereal commercial...you know where the mom puts the healthy cereal in front of the kids, the kids look up and grin and say "Mom, you're the BEST!" Only in our house, the cereal was cake.
So, I think I will try this again, but I don't think I can handle consecutive 10 day challenges. It will have to be broken up some, so I can re-stock the freezers around here!
